Project Concept: "Wet Silk & Sand" was an exploration of elemental beauty, focusing on themes of water, wetness, and natural tones reminiscent of a shoreline. With the talented Vietnamese model Vy Wynn, this shoot spanned approximately five hours, allowing us to fully delve into and visualize the concept in a variety of creative ways.

Photography Stages and Styling: We kicked off in a clean studio setting with a bold true blue lit background, where Vy was adorned in a tan, rhinestone-embedded dress. The hard directional key light made the rhinestones sparkle, mimicking wet sand glistening against the ocean.

Transitioning to a more playful, girl-next-door aesthetic akin to Playboy, Vy wore a soaked, rosy-hued, thin long-sleeve top paired with wine-colored panties. The natural sunlight streaming through a skylight added a warm, natural feel to these shots.

The shoot then took a dramatic turn. Vy, draped in soaked white fabric and in her nude form, was spotlighted against complete darkness. The strong vignette and steel blue color grading in these shots created an almost haunting atmosphere. The fabric's movement, constantly re-moistened by my assistant, lent a dynamic, mesmerizing quality to each image, highlighting Vy's form and the fabric's texture.

Project Insight: This shoot was a journey through different moods and aesthetics, from sparkling glamour to intimate, nature-inspired shots, and finally to dramatic, artful implied nudes. The variety of lighting techniques, from harsh spotlights to soft natural light, played a crucial role in setting the tone for each setup. The resulting images from "Wet Silk & Sand" are not just visually striking but also evoke a range of emotions, from playfulness to introspection. I'm particularly pleased with the hauntingly beautiful images from the final segment, which truly captured the ethereal essence we were aiming for.
